A: Tournament location
red: cant go through Rudolf-Sohm-Straße
green: can go through Eichhornstraße
blue: Restaurant for saturday's dinner.
orange text: supermarkets REWE and PLUS, Mc Donald, pizzeria, snack-bar

Attention: Rudolf-Sohm-Straße (red dot) is blocked. Can't go through as your navigation system might like you to. Take Eichhornstraße (green dots) which is just before the supermarket. The house under the "A" on the map is the tournament location. Right infront of the building are several parking places. Should be for free.
The previous information that you can park at the REWE supermarket is wrong. Only for guests and only for one hour. I don't think parking will be a problem in that region anyway.

Next station is Nesselroderstr.

Prizes

1 cup for the winner
10 medals and several prizes (toys etc.) to choose from.
The medals are for:
best, second and third of all 3 categories: Elite, Advanced, Beginner.
Best Endgame will win a medal.

Best Endgame

Rules of the Best Endgame prize will be following the example of the US National Championships. We are still considering if we really only consider the winner of the games.

The best endgame prize will be awarded for the games played in the 11 rounds swiss only, and based on the following criteria:

(1) Only the winner of a game will be considered.
(2) The winning disk differential must be 20 disks or less.
(3) Errors in the last twenty moves (ten moves for either side) of the game will be calculated as the number of disks the error costs with perfect play. This calculation will be performed on WZebra. Errors will be counted only if the move is not perfect for the winning player.
(4) Tiebreak: if more than one player have the best endgame according to the rules above:
a) the winner is the one with the lowest disc loss value starting from the end of the game forward to the point where there is the first difference.
b) in case a) can not find a difference within the last 30(!) moves, the second best endgame will be considered.

Specials

Friday Evening: Othello Bowling party.

From 8 pm to 11 pm we will play bowling.
West-Bowling
Melatengürtel 21
50933 Köln
http://www.westbowling.de

A few players will be there all 3 hours, but likely many others will only join 1 or 2 hours. So in order to be able to book enough lanes, please tell me when and how long you plan to take part.

One way to tell me is this: http://www.doodle.com/huxzf6efq8i2ta2p

Dinner on Friday

I don't expect many players to arrive in time to have dinner before bowling, but if you are interested, let me know. My plan is to have dinner between 17.30 and 19.30 at the Indian restaurant "Buy buy" which is pretty much near the center. http://www.qype.com/place/12635-Buy-Buy-Koeln/photos
Aachener Straße 16
50937 Köln
U-Bahn: Rudolfsplatz
It is 4 stops away from the bowling center.

Another option would be a Mediterranean restaurant at the station you go to for bowling.
Haus Westend
Aachener Straße 415
50933 Köln
Seems like a nice restaurant. Prices aren't cheap. ~

Cologne Cathedral

If there is enough interest, i'd like to climb the Cologne Cathedral with some fellow Othello players on Friday afternoon. Let me know if you are interested to join.

Saturday evening: Poker & other games

As in Berlin we will try to organise some games for saturday evening. Poker will most likely be played by many players, but other games are welcome as well. I will try to invite local chess and go players as well.

We will most likely be back from the restaurant at around 20.30 and have the tournament room to play whatever we like. :)

Catering

Drinks

Situation changed, the previous information about chess players selling drinks and snacks is no longer the case.

We (I or fellow players) will try to organise drinks for low price.

There is a REWE and a PLUS super market nearby so you can either buy for yourself or let us know what you'd like to drink (or eat?) and we'll try to get it.

Lunch

For lunch on saturday and sunday we plan to order at this delivery service:
https://pizza.de/pizzeria-toscana-koeln-keupstr-8?lgs=34167

At they seem to have reasonable prices and lots of different stuff, so hopefully everyone can find something. As it will take lots of time to make 20-30 dishes at once, we need to order around 2h before, so I'd like everyone to order at sign-up or real soon afterwards. If you check out the online menu and decide in advance, you can let me know by e-mail or online, so I can put it on a list and you can just verify your order at sign-up.

Dinner

Saturday evening we plan to eat at a restaurant nearby (blue dot).
"Kupferdach"
Niehler Straße 342
50735
it's said to have "Gutbürgerliche Küche" so I'd say it's rather traditional german food. But for that day they have a special offer: "7.50 EU all you can eat" for a mixed grill.

Next to this restaurant is also a China restaurant which also could deliver for lunch if we got enough interest.

Feedback for the german restaurant above was pretty good so far, that I think I'll book that room for 18.30-20.30. Please let me know if you plan to join.
